Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (14-oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 0.25 cup chopped fresh cilantro, plus more for serving
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces

Instructions

  • 1. In a bowl, mix the yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, pepper, ginger, and garlic. Add chicken and stir to coat. Marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours.
  • 2. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Thread the chicken onto skewers and bake for 15-20 minutes, until cooked through.
  • 3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and cook for 5 minutes until softened. Add ginger and garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and cayenne pepper, and cook for 1 more minute.
  • 4. Add tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in cream and cook for another 5 minutes. Add salt to taste.
  • 5. Remove chicken from skewers and add to the sauce. Simmer for a few minutes to heat through. Serve with rice and garnish with cilantro. Enjoy!
