Ingredients

  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 onions, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 pound spaghetti or your choice of pasta

Instructions

  • 1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • 2. Add ground beef and cook until browned and cooked through, breaking up any large chunks with a wooden spoon.
  • 3. Add crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
  • 4. Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes, or until it thickens and the flavors meld together.
  • 5. Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to package instructions until to the tooth.
  • 6. Serve the sauce over the cooked pasta, topped with grated parmesan cheese.
